Sheikhupura – Jan 19, 2017: Lashkar-e Jhangvi (LEJ) terrorist chief, Asif Chotu, along with three aides, have been allegedly killed in police encounter in Punjab, Pakistan.
Asif Chotu took over as chief of Lashkar-e Jhangvi following killing of its former chief, Malik Ishaq, in another alleged police encounter some 18 months ago. Chotu was wanted for over 100 murders, including the assassination of PIA Chairman, Hassan Musa Hazara – son of Pakistan’s former army chief, General Musa Khan Hazara.

According to Hazara Organization for Peace and Equality (HOPE), LEJ has claimed nearly 200 attacks on Hazara community in Pakistan murdering at least 1400 Hazaras, injuring nearly 4000, and responsible for displacement of 50% of entire Hazara population as Refugees from Pakistan.
The Lashkar-e Jhangvi is a close affiliate of ISIS, AlQaeada, and TTP, among other terrorist organizations. It is the mastermind behind killing of US Journalist Daniel Pearl. The leadership of LEJ in Balochistan has family ties with Khalid Shiekh Mohammad (AlQaeda #2), Ramzi Yousuf (1st WTC bombing) and Dr. Afia Siddiqui (in US custody).
The LEJ enjoyed full support from Pakistan’s former army chief, General Zia ul Haq. It has close ties with Pakistan’s security agencies and nearly all major political parties including PM Pakistan Nawaz Sharif’s PMLN and Imran Khan’s PTI.
